My job gives me the opportunity to do a lot of fun stuff and meet some interesting and inspirational people … like the lovely Connie Viney.

Connie is an artist who creates amazing, gigantic sculptures from cake and icing – definitely my kind of person.

She is also a very busy girl. I’m working with her on an exciting project for a client that will be unveiled at BBC Good Food Show Winter but in the meantime she is about to open her own extraordinary exhibition at the Vyner Street Gallery in London.

It’s called Sugarama and will run at the gallery from 3rd to 9th September. She is creating a ‘sugar house’ that will incorporate sound, movement and lighting effects. According to Connie – “the work aims to evoke a reaction. I’m interested to see whether people are fascinated, intrigued or simply repulsed by this sensory overload”.

The pictures of her other work on her website look fab and I’m sure it will be a fantastic experience. Unfortunately being based up North I won’t be able to attend but definitely worth checking out if you are in London and looking for something fun to do.

Connie will be at the BBC Good Food Show Winter with another spectacular cake creation and will also be giving live demos on the Great British Bake Off stand – keep your eyes peeled for more things to come from her.
